I’ve heard and read a lot about Mackmyra before but never tried it.
This is 01 Eminent Sherry. Dramfact: Mackmyra use little 100 litre casks to mature their spirit and they’re “warehoused” 50m underground in an old mine. The casks are seasoned by being blown down under pressure with a few litres of sherry in them, the increased pressure forces the sherry into the oak, increasing the sherry influence.
The nose is quite fabulous: almonds and hazelnuts, fruit cake, banana, coconut, mint. Not overly sherried by any means but very sophisticated.
Good milk chocolate, light malt, grass, some very light sherry influence, slightly earthy, caramel.
I really like it!
