26/07/11 Ballindalloch SMWS 37.43
A new distillery tasting for the old blog today.
Cheers!
A 1st fill butt from Ballindalloch. It’s a real sherry beast, sweet and spicy yet savoury (beef gravy!) and surprisingly fruity (over-ripe strawberries, plums, blackberries, sultanas).
Responds beautifully to water and the sweet spot for me is about 2:1 uisge:water.
This is a properly good single-cask whisky, this is what SMWS is all about. After a few recent disappointments I let my membership lapse. Now and again a bottle reminds me why I stayed with them for 3 years.
This one’s a stoater.
4/5.
