Well, despite pretty regular trips to the Netherlands with work over the years, I have never tried Durch whisky before.
The Zuidam distillery in Baarle Nassau was founded in 1974 to produce jenever (basically the same as gin) but in 1998 they started producing whisky.
This particular dram is finished in French oak after 6 years in ex JD casks.
Sweet white grapes
Fresh green apples
Fruity, beautifully smooth but lacking any contrast or real depth of flavour. Subtle and entirely drinkable though, I’d feel mean giving it 2/5.
