15/05/11 Kilchoman Spring ’11

My first review (although not my first dram, or bottle for that matter) from Kilchoman, the newest distillery on Islay.

Kilchoman is a farm distillery, they grow their own barley and malt it themselves (on a floor no less!)

Very like a young Ardbeg on the nose: raw peated spirit, frying smoked bacon, sweet tangy woodsmoke, citrus and vanilla.

Much gentler on the palate, sweet and delicate, quite a surprise! Subtle smoke, oak, some light grassy and green apple.

Beautiful dram, I’m seriously impressed.
