08/09/11 Tomatin 18yo

This is one of the first drams I ever tasted and I’ve always had a bottle of it in the house.

Obvious sherry influence, toasted grain, sweet sherry fruit, a little nutty toffee. Some gentle spices, milk chocolate, orange zest.

All good flavours but it’s a wee bit dull all the same. The finish is a bit dull too and too short.

Objectively, it’s not a true great but you know what? I still like it. Easy to drink.

Tomatin is a pretty big distillery in a pretty small place near Inverness. Not widely known for their single malt, the majority of their whisky goes for blending.

Dry, slightly boozy fruitcake, sultanas, cinnamon. Dried apricots mixed peel, a little vanilla. Fruity, spicy sherry, sweet barley. This isn’t universally loved but i really quite like it.
