23/06/11 Glencadam 14yo Oloroso

A new distillery for me tonight, Glencadam, from Brechin (near Dundee).

This a 14yo distillery expression is described as “rather enriched” which is a wee bit self-indulgent in my humble opinion…

The nose is light and biscuity, fresh malt, a little oak, some green fruit. Little trace of sherry to be honest.

On the palate it’s surprisingly spicy, lots of vanilla, a little dry sherry towards the back of the palate. The finish continues the theme, medium length but rich with ginger and pepper.

An enjoyable summer dram, a bit lacking in depth though.
