27/12/11 Glen Ord 1998 Cask 3476
I am (or was, until tonight) a Glen Ord virgin. An old distillery but relatively unknown as a single malt until recently. Most commonly seen as the Singleton of Glen Ord, it’s a dram I’ve sadly never quite got around to trying.
Anyway, this is a Signatory single cask, a surprisingly small output of 246 bottles from a 250 litre Hogshead.
Delightful nose: sweet honey, peaches, dry cereals.
Orange, vanilla, very subtle herbs. Shortbread, marmalade.
Creamy smooth, beautiful texture.
I really like this, it’s a great example of a sophisticated and complex yet simple dram. It’s not hugely exciting but it’d very…accomplished. I really can’t fault it.
