Uberach L’Ultime
Something a bit different tonight. French single cask whisky, finished (I assume it’s not full maturation at any rate) in a Banyuls cask.
What a beautiful dram, dark and rich like mahogany. The nose sweet and powerful with treacle, molasses and beguiling spices.
Palate: strawberries, honey, ginger, five spice, aged balsamic vinegar, old oak, almost port-like intense fruit.
Heavy tannins but beautifully smooth. Lingering finish.
Absolutely stunning, gorgeous whisky.
5/5
Many thanks to Franck Debernardi over at http://lacavedecobalt.blogspot.fr for the sample, I owe you something very special in return for this gem!
